Full-Time Assistant Field Hockey Coach needed to assist the head coach in providing direction and leadership to an NCAA Division I Field Hockey Program. Assist in managing all aspects of team while following departmental standards of consistency, accountability, teamwork, and success (C.A.T.S). Adhere to Davidson athletics, Davidson College, Atlantic 10, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Responsibilities:
Coach- All on-field activities including but not limited to: practice planning and implementation; skill development for all positions- strikers, midfielders, backs, and goalkeepers; teach team tactical concepts; strength and conditioning work as needed. Water field and keep facilities and equipment in working condition.
Administrate- Order and manage equipment; communicate schedule and logistics with team; communicate and coordinate with parents; plan and implement team travel components including food, housing and transportation; coordinate with officials for home games. Fundraise and relate with field hockey network in order to promote and increase visibility for Davidson College.
Recruit- Find athletes who are a good fit for Davidson College. Watch athletes play- on film and in person; evaluate skill, leadership, and academic fit; establish and maintain communication with prospective student athletes; coordinate unofficial and official visits; interact with compliance office and admissions office while ensuring academic fit.
Mentor- Maintain positive and constructive relationships with current student athletes. Meet, listen to, and advise athletes on personal, hockey, and academic matters. Function as a liaison with head coach and administration; as necessary, communicate relevant issues in a timely matter.
Analysis- Upload film after games, code Davidson and opponents film, watch and analyze Davidson and opponents film, clip Davidson and opponents film, work with student athletes to utilize insights gained from film analysis.
Assist- At the discretion of the head coach, assist in all other matters as assigned. Stay in compliance with team, departmental, college, conference and NCAA standards, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, valid driver's license and collegiate or high level club playing experience necessary. Division 1 or equivalent league playing and/or coaching experience preferred. Must have field hockey technical and tactical knowledge, thorough understanding of strategy and rules; familiarity and compliance with NCAA Rules; demonstrated ability to teach, coach and mentor. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
